The Senate earlier today finally screened Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi as a Ministerial Nominee. He talked on four key issues during his screening including:
- Issues concerning the Nigerian Governors' Forum which he was Chairman and how he had to be vocal in order to defend the rights of Nigerians.
- His first 100days in office if confirmed as a Minister; he said that Change has come to stay and would definitely affect all his dealings. He also said he believes in the APC as a party of change agents.
- On becoming Minister of the Niger-Delta; he promised that if he is confirmed as Minister, the South-West road in Portharcourt would be his first priority.
- On corruption charges levelled against him; he said he has never collected bribe in his life and that he is somebody who does not like corruption. He also said that corruption takes several forms, that if a lady is sent to you for help and you sleep with her, then you are corrupt.
He was asked to take a bow and go at the end of the screening.
