According to Sahara Reporters, an Ethiopian Airlines flight bound for Washington DC was forced to make an emergency landing in Dublin, Ireland after its left engine failed while flying over the Atlantic Ocean on Friday morning. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner originally departed from Dublin, but the pilot informed the 300 passengers aboard that the plane was experiencing engine failure just as they flew over the Atlantic Ocean. The pilot was able to land at Dublin safely, and the passengers were transferred to a different flight. This incident is not the first of its kind to affect the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. In 2013 several Dreamliners were recalled due to the detection of battery problems, according to the Africa Report.
