King Sunny Ade Wins Court Case After 30 Years

Legendary Nigerian singer King Sunny Ade has just won a lawsuit he filed thirty years ago against African Songs and its subsidiary. The Juju singer had sued back in 1975 for infringement on his works.

Reports emanating now is that after thirty years of legal battle, the 69 year old entertainer has been awarded N500 million in damages as well as another N3 million for prosecuting the suit by Justice Dosunmu of a Lagos High Court.
It is not yet clear whether the companies will be paying up or if they would appeal the judgment. If they decide to appeal, then another number of years might be added to the case.
