Although Dr Orji Uzo kalu has not publicly declared his interest in the FIFA Presidency, suspended FIFA President, Sepp Blatter has openly endorsed the candidacy of the former Governor of Abia State to become FIFA President, stating that it would be in the interest of Africa to nominate him because of his wealth of experience and deep passion for the game.
Blatter made this known while speaking in Zurich. He said that the position of the FIFA president is too important to be left to just anybody, but the businessman from Nigeria, Kalu, is very qualified because apart from being a businessman, he is also a politician with lots of contacts and corporate experience which he can bring to bear in the running of world football.
The Confederation of African Football is however expected to meet next week to decide on a candidate for the election scheduled for next year. Orji Kalu and Segun Odegbami are the two candidates vying for the post from Africa.
